Robert Smith guest appearances, contributions and collaborations
Robert Smith is an English musician. He is mostly known for his lead singing, guitar playing and main song writing with The Cure rock band. Robert Smith is The Cure’s only constant member since the band’s founding, in 1976. Thanks to his very complicated and detailed guitar playing, and original use of flanging, choruses and phasic musical effects, Robert Smith is considered to be a pioneer guitarist of the New Wave and Goth music genres. Apart from being a lead singer and guitar player, Robert Smith is also able to play 6 string bass guitar and keyboards. And if you’ve never heard of The Cure, apart from having some serious issues (come on, who haven’t heard of The Cure and browses the internet?) you’ve definitely heard of Robert Smith because of his appearance; black clothes, pale complexion, smudged red lipstick, black eyeliner and his trademark extremely disordered, yet artful large volumes of black hair.
Apart from The Cure, Robert Smith has also made a number of contributions, guest appearances and was also involved in several band projects. In both 1979, and from 1982 to 1984, he was also a guitarist for Siouxsie and the Banshees, a band which was also one of his main influences. In 1983, Robert was also involved with Banshees bassist Steven Severin in a side project The Glove. Apart from these long stints collaborations, Robert also contributed guitar work to The Cranes, formed a “one off” side project called COGASM, and collaborated with several other world renowned artists, such as Blink 182, Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan, and much more.
The below (not official) video is of the Blink 182 track, All of This, to which Robert Smith contributed guest vocals.
The below (not so) video features the track Not in Love by Crystal Castles featuring Robert Smith (guest vocals). Crystal Castles are an electronic band from Toronto, Canada.
The following video which simply features a picture ofBilly Corgan and Robert Smith, is the audio of the track “To Love Somebody”, a Bee Gees coverversion released by Billy Corgan featuring Robert Smith vocals.
There are many other collaborations and guest appearances Robert Smith did with other world renowned artists, though it is impossible to feature all the videos here. You can read more about all the collaborations from Robert Smith’s Wikipedia page. In the meantime, enjoy the below Robert Smith guest appearance in a David Bowie concert.
