Although I knew that AC/DC is a very famous rock & roll band who wrote some of the greatest rock anthems, I never really bothered to listen to some of their music. I don’t even own an AC/DC album. Though after watching AC/DC’s singer Brian Johnson interview in one of the Top Gear’s episodes, I immediately liked the guy and fell in love with the band. How couldn’t you love the band when you know that the people behind the band have such a great humour, and …

You knew that one of the world’s best, unique and custom made guitar was the cheapest one ever built? It was made out of scrap; parts from a motorbike, piece of oak from a table, some wood from a 100 year old fireplace etc.
It’s Brian May’s Red Special guitar, which he built with his father when he was still a teenager. In the below interesting video, Queen’s guitarist Brian May states that he is not sure whether they were clever or lucky, but it worked out for them. The Red Special …

If you are reading this post, surely you know about Pink Floyd’s 1973 concept album The Dark Side of the Moon. The album’s lyrics talk about conflict, greed, aging, and mental illness, which is partly inspired by the unfortunate Syd Barrett’s deteriorating mental state.
Well, ever wondered from where Pink Floyd got inspirations for their music? Or how the whole album was recorded? Although I am an fan of Pink Floyd, I just got to know about ‘The Making of ‘The Dark Side of the Moon” DVD, which was released in …

Don’t people love it when music is also used as a political weapon? After all, apart from entertaining people, most of the music is written to send a message. And that is what Midnight Oil did with their 1987 hit single ‘Beds are Burning’
This political song is about giving native Australian lands back to an Australian Aboriginal group called Pintupi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pintupi).
In 1960, The Australian government, forced these tribes out of their lands, stating that they were not ready to live in modern society and needed to be re-educated.
In the below …

Queen was a British rock band that gave us hits like Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, I want to Break Free, Show must go on, the two stadium anthems, We Will Rock You and We are the Champions and much more.
But what about their debut self titled Studio album back in 1973? Was it an instant hit? Unfortunately success is only measured by number of album copies sold, or by air time on radio stations. Therefore, technically speaking this album surely was not a commercial success. Though as …

Without a record label for 2003 – 2008, Anathema couldn’t do much. They played a couple of live gigs and they released 3 free songs (which you could download from their website for free). I’ve been to 2 of their gigs, one of them was at the ‘Unholy Trinity’ in the UK, and Anathema rocked the place. Their stage presence, the atmosphere and the movement they created was by far better than that of Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride.
Thanks to their switch to atmospheric rock, in 2008, they signed …

Look to the stars reports:
A young rock fan in England had his dream come true when he met AC/DC courtesy of the UK Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Six-year-old Hendrix of Walsall, West Midlands, is fighting Acute Monocytic Leukemia and has been a huge fan of the famous rockers since the age of three, when he had to have a major bone marrow transplant – AC/DC’s music was the only thing that would calm him and help him sleep.
As well as watching the band’s Wembley show from a VIP box, Hendrix was escorted backstage …

Finally Paradise Lost released their first single “As Horizons End” on their MySpace page. It’s a must check it out!
As they promised us, the song is heavier and darker than ever, thanks to their re-introduction of melodic guitars, and Nick’s vocals. Are Paradise Lost back better than ever before? I guess yes. Don’t expect Shades of God / Icon style again, that was a different era, but still they did a great job.
Nick Holmes comments on the song “This song is about someone who’s on a downward spiral. …
