Jonny Rumble – JR album review

When it comes to music I am a fanatic. I adore so many bands and I just can’t seem to choose who the best one is. Have you heard the band Jonny Rumble? They might sound cheesy but there is no doubt that their songs had a huge impact on what people listen today.
The song that first popped in my head when I heard Jonny Rumble’s new album was the “Victim of the Times” that has a different, yet genuine musical arrangement. The band does so much fun stuff in …

See Green – Violet EP review

The more you listen to music, the more different genres you start looking into, the more you want to discover. At least this is what happened to me and my musical tastes. My “don’t just listen to what is played on the radio” era started in my very early teens, when I just listened to heavy metal, which didn’t take me long to grow out of it. There is nothing wrong in listening with heavy metal, and I still listen to it today, but I also listen …

Welcome to Ashley – Beyond the Pale review

Chicago’s Welcome to Ashley keep it sweet and simple. They are loud yet smooth, and can rock the hell out of you like Mick Jagger does on a high!

The Mission – Masque album review

She brings me colours, white wine and roses
And then we paint our faces and powder our noses
She gives me her halo and i hang it next to mine
Reads to me mishima like a honeymoon valentine
She’s an architect of pleasure and she fashions me a fountain
She leads me through the clouds to the peak of the highest mountain
Lyrics about love and passion.  Aaaahhh l’amour.  What’s the world without l’amour?  Are these lyrics from a horny Michael Bolton or from a romantic Enrique Iglesias? They are lyrics from Mission’s album Masque.  Obviously …

D’Haene – Vinyl review

Listening to a new band is always an exciting journey.  It’s like exploring unknown lands, where you have to be prepared for the unexpected!  And listening to D’Haene‘s new and second album Vinyl, that’s how it felt.  Discovering unknown pleasures!
Vinyl can be classified as a rock album, though with a hint of 70′s soul music and a pinch of American blues.  Quite a complicated mixture, isn’t it?  All influences blend together very well and with Bob’s vocals it sounds more complete.  It is in fact the first time I am …

Anathema We’re Here Because We’re Here review

Unfortunately, between 2004 and 2010 Anathema faded away from the scene which they helped build and led since 1993.  In these last six years, they did release a number of free tracks, available from their website, and a compilation called Hindsight.  But people were eagerly waiting for their come back.  The news that Anathema finally were signed up to a label (KScope Records) in 2009, struck the media and fans like a ray of light through a dark room’s window.  As a matter of fact, Anathema’s latest album “We’re here …

Lacrimosa – Angst

Released in 1991, Angst is the first release from Lacrimosa.  Unlike today, back in 1991, Lacrimosa was a one man band, a solo project by Tilo Wolff.
As the album’s name Angst suggests (Angst is a German word, meaning “a feeling of anxiety or apprehension often accompanied by depression”), this is Lacrimosa’s darkest albums.  Nowadays Lacrimosa are normally labeled as a metal / gothic band, but don’t expect to hear anything near ‘metal’ in this album.  The music is dark and gloomy, and contains a hint of darkwave.  As a matter …

When I received an email from an Israeli band called Eatliz, with subject ‘New Indie/Art rock band EP’, I honestly was not looking forward to write them review. Indie rock is not my forte, and apart from that, it is not exactly one of my favorite genres. Still, I forced myself into giving it a shot, and listen to their new EP ‘Delicately Violent’.

After listening to the first three tracks; Food Fighters, Fire, and Spliff, I already had a conclusion. Or I’m really not into the Indie …

Behind the Sun is a self titled debut album of a five piece rock band, which originates from Israel.  The album, released in mid 2009 contains 12 great tracks, and is the fruit of one and a half years of hard work.

As such there is no way to describe this band’s original musical style.  Although their heavy music have elements of Opeth, and their slower pieces and guitar work have influence of a 70′s rock band, they still managed to distinguish themselves with a style of their own.  At first …

4 years after their first release, the all Italian band Act Noir release their second album, Shape a New Start.  Released in January 2010 under Milan’s Eibon Records, the new album features the new vocalist Gaetano Notarnicola.  Their music and vocals blending sounds like a mixture of Depeche Mode, A perfect Circle with a spice of Placebo.  Although their electro rock roots still remain strong, this time their musical direction is more melodic.
The overall album construction is like a spiral in which the electro music, rock and vocals fit very …
