I never loved Pink Floyd. I always thought they’re a commercial band. Who doesn’t listen to Pink Floyd? Ever seen a Juke box which does not have Pink Floyd albums? They are all around the world.
Once, I asked a die hard Pink Floyd fan, “What is so exciting about this band?” His answer was simply “When you’re angry or nervous, just listen to them.” And when the opportunity was around, so I did.
Wonder of wonders, it worked! With their music, they will take you to another calmer world. Their early albums take you to some imaginary world which one cannot describe, full of bright phsycadelic colours, while more recent work takes you through a journey of relaxing good music.
What I really like in Pink Floyd, is their music. It sounds young, and will always be! I am sure it will also be around for much longer than we can imagine. Sometimes you listen to some Summer one time hit single, a year after it was released, and you’ll think “hell, that’s old! Time changes and so should music!” But with Pink Floyd music, there is something different. Their music fits every decade!
Looking back at the 70’s, compare Pink Floyd to other bands of the same time and you’ll notice that Pink Floyd were light years ahead, in their style, in ther live shows and everything around music. For anyone who thinks that Pink Floyd are the typical loud rock commercial band, I suggest that the next time you’re shopping around for cd’s at Amazon.com, add 2 or 3 Pink Floyd albums to your shopping cart. You won’t regret it!
