Around 6 years ago, I bought ‘The 69 Eyes’ album ‘Blessed Be’. The only reason I bought this album, is because I noticed that they really tried hard to look like Type O Negative. Since I had never heard them, thought it might be a good investment, which wasn’t. From the album’s artwork, their style and image, one can clearly smell Type O wannabe!

The music, lyrics and atmosphere are nowhere near Type O’s. Without any offense, they would have done a better job if they formed a tribute Type O band.

I also just checked their official website. They changed, and how! It seems they dress like old school metalheads, say Motorhead style, and switched to a more heavy tone. They are more busy looking at the mirror and caring about their image. How cool can it be nowadays, taking pictures showing off you middle finger?

From their discography, one can also notice that they spent a lot of time releasing more singles, and cd this and album that than they have songs, instead of writing good music!

For sure I would not go for another ‘The 69 Eyes’ album. Also, some people ask ‘What’s in a name?’ Fine agreed, but for God’s sake, couldn’t you find a more ‘normal’ name for your band? Is the number 69 so cool for a band’s name? Most probably it helps attracting metal kiddies, which automatically helps the band making more money.
