Apart from The Cure, Robert Smith has also made a number of contributions, guest appearances and was also involved in several band projects. In both 1979, and from 1982 to 1984, he was also a guitarist for Siouxsie and the Banshees, a band which was also one of his main influences. In 1983, Robert was also involved with Banshees bassist Steven Severin in a side project The Glove. Apart from these long stints collaborations, Robert also contributed guitar work to The Cranes, formed a “one off” side project called COGASM, and collaborated with several other world renowned artists, such as Blink 182, Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan, and much more.

This album is the final part of Robert Smith’s personal ‘Trilogy’. Robert Smith expressed several times, that the 1982 album Pornography, the 1989 album Disintegration, and Bloodflowers, released in 2000 are the three albums that best define the British rock band, The Cure. This album also marks the band’s return to their original roots, after their drastic change in style in the 1996 album, Wild Mood Swings. Unfortunately, The Cure does not play live songs from the Bloodflowers album, only in very rare occasion! Though in 2002, The Cure performed Robert’s Trilogy (Pornography, Disintegration, Bloodflowers) in a single concert in Berlin. Below is a clip from the 2002 Berlin concert, when they perform Bloodflower’s title track. What a performance!
